COVID-19 Announcement

April 09, 2021

Three asymptomatic student-athletes have tested positive for COVID-19 during the last weekly reporting cycle. Each student learned of their positive results during routine testing provided to students who are participating in collegiate competition.

Strict safety measures, stemming from California Community College Athletic Association and the Orange County Health Agency guidelines, are in place for student-athletes, including daily temperature and symptom checks, regular COVID-19 testing, a mask protocol, social distancing and more.

Social distancing is achieved by dividing the teams into pods of 10 student-athletes each. These pods participate in contactless, socially distanced athletic conditioning activities. Teams do not scrimmage or conduct drills that require students to share equipment.

The students who tested positive, are self-isolating at their homes for the duration of their illness and as specified by the CDC guidelines. Any individuals in their pods who had prolonged, first contact with the students as determined by CDC contact tracing guidelines, were instructed to monitor for COVID-19 symptoms, self-isolate and retest before returning to campus.

Fullerton College releases information about on-campus COVID exposures on Fridays if an exposure occurred in the week prior. In the event anyone is directly impacted by an exposure or a potential exposure on campus, they will receive guidance from the college before and apart from the public announcements.

TOTAL CONFIRMED, ON-CAMPUS COVID-19 POSITIVE STUDENTS SINCE SPRING 2020: 18
