Fullerton College Vaccination Mandate: Update for Students

September 02, 2021

Dear Students,

I hope that you are off to a strong start this Fall Semester. Last week, the college sent out information on a new vaccination mandate that will go into effect on November 1. We are committed to keeping you updated as we roll out this mandate and will send you more details as they become available.

Recap

On August 24, the North Orange County Community College District Board of Trustees voted to mandate COVID-19 vaccinations for all employees, and for students enrolled in on-campus classes with allowances for religious or medical exemptions as defined by law. Those who are not vaccinated will be provided free weekly COVID-19 tests.

What’s Next?

By September 15, Fullerton College will have a process in place for students to securely update their vaccination information through MyGateway. To be considered fully vaccinated by November 1, the final vaccine dose must be received no later than October 17.

By September 15, the college will also have instructions and forms available to those who seek an exemption. Weekly testing will be required of students taking on-campus courses who have not been fully vaccinated starting November 1.

Looking Ahead

Many steps are being taken to minimize the impact of this policy on your fall semester enrollment.

By the spring semester, any student who wants to take on-campus courses must provide proof that they are fully vaccinated or be approved for a medical or religious exemption before enrolling. Beginning with the spring semester, weekly testing will only be an option for unvaccinated students with approved exemptions who are attending in-person classes on campus. If the correct documentation has not been filed, students will not be able to register for on-campus courses for the spring.

Get Vaccinated

The best thing you can do now is to get vaccinated if you haven’t already. Fullerton College and the Orange County Health Care Agency will host a COVID-19 vaccination clinic on Sept. 9 from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. in Building 200, Rooms 224-228. Learn more on the Fullerton College News Center.
