Theatre Arts professor Michael Muller and his wife, Kate Muller have created an exclusive opportunity for students to learn expert tips from theatre and film professionals. The Isolation Tank Speaker Series held weekly on Wednesdays at 5 – 6 p.m. via Zoom features interviews with professional actors, directors, producers, technicians, and more.
“It’s been my pleasure to offer some extra opportunities to students as a way to communicate and stay connected during this very hard time of isolation,” said Kate Muller, who has been working in film and television for more than 20 years.
“I have expressed to the students how hard it is as theatre practitioners to have lost our ability to practice our art form for the foreseeable future. I wanted to come up with some ways to feel like we haven’t lost everything, but instead to rise up to the occasion and find new and creative ways to keep theatre alive.”
Muller presented the idea to her husband, Michael, who then brought the idea to the Theatre Arts Department. The two have been scheduling weekly speakers since April 1.
The lineup of speakers over the next few weeks include film and theatre directors, screenwriters, actors and playwrights. The speaker series is available to all students. To receive the Zoom link, email kate.mueller20@gmail.com.
